Travel deals are known to trigger a major price war in the market. They have the tendency to snowball into a huge phenomenon with many of the other suppliers, like airlines, hotels, car rentals as also businesses that are not directly connected to the tourism industry, also joining the vacation bandwagon. It is also a known fact that although some of the smaller and less known suppliers, airlines for example may not have any advantage of the travel deals of the high season. The reason for this can be traced to basically their size of operations.
Whereas the major airlines do always face the sun and bask in the glory, thanks to their economies of scale, the smaller airlines may always have to dole out these travel deals throughout the year to stay afloat. Travel deals may also be introduced just prior to major events that envisage a global audience like trade fairs or sports competitions.
